Magpie Campground

Our friends, the Fessler's that came over last Monday for FHE invited us to go camping with them. They ended up having family come to town and weren't able to go anymore, but we still wanted to try and go. Thursday night Adam Atkinson came down and spent the night and Friday after Phil got home from a short day of work we headed up North to Ogden Canyon, hoping to find a place to camp for the night. The first place we looked at was full, so we crossed our fingers and headed up the Canyon. We stopped at one that had some space, but didn't look very nice. I'm glad we kept looking because the next one we came across we perfect. It was right by the river and had lots of shade. We started setting up camp and then started our fire.

Ryder kept himself entertained by playing with the toys we brought...

& using firewood as drumsticks.
After a little break we decided to get our suits on and try our the river. It was a little cold, but not bad once you sat in it for a bit. After sitting in it for awhile we noticed there were lots of leeches in it, and decided to get out. They were probably too small to suck, but it was still kind of gross. Cambria had fun getting wet though.
The kids liked playing in and around the tent...something kind of new for the both of them.
Ryder tried a few new things as well...who knows what he was eating. If he didn't like it he spit it out.
Jessica helps out so much. She is so good with the kids and they just adore her. Thanks for everything sis.
Ryder with his messy face and balls.
I just thought it was kind of funny. Cambria potty was surround by all these trees and grass, kind of looks peaceful.
Phil is the fire starter. We were thankful for him getting the fire going so we could have coals for dinner and for waking up early in the morning so our feet would stay warm. Thank you babe!
While we were getting our dinner Cambria was in the car watching a movie.
Here's our small little group.
Aunt Jessica was sharing her potatoes and carrots from her foil dinner with Ryder.
He took his carrot on the go. Dropped it, and then found it a few minutes later and started eating it again.
Then he found himself a nice little spot on the ground to sit and eat it.
After Ryder was in bed Cambria stayed up and helped us play a few rounds of our game. She was cold and wanted her hat on...i love this beanie that Aunt Sarah got her for Christmas and does she!
We played a few more rounds after Cambria was asleep. Then we sat around the fire for a little, but not too long because we didn't have very much firewood.
The next morning Cambria asked for a hot dog for breakfast. The night before she and Ryder had both bad hot dogs for dinner and they loved them. Ryder had two full hot dogs. 8am isn't too early for a hot dog, right? It's what she wanted.
Here's the kids eating "breakfast".
Jessica warming up her toes.
Ryder loves his hot dogs! And after seeing the kids eating their dogs, Phil & I decided that we wanted one as well. Isn't it great camping?
I spent a few hours in the morning ready Breaking Dawn. Yes, this is my first time. I am such a slow reader, but this book is so intense! It's so much fun not having any idea what's going to happen next. This is my favorite book so far.
We were getting ready to leave when we heard that there had been an accident with 5 fatalities. That accident was blocking one of two ways to get out of the canyon. The other way would take us through Wyoming and take nearly 3 hours for us to get home, instead of less than one. Adam is from Wyoming and going the back way would take us to his house. So rather than waiting around we decided to get on the road and take the Wyoming way home. It did take awhile, but it was a nice drive that we had never been on before. If we waited around we would have been home about the same time, but oh well. It was nice to get away and go camping, even if only for one night. The kids had so much fun and we are looking forward to our next camping trip on the 24th of July.
